摘 要:Chemotaxis is the oriented movement of cells in response to the chemical substances in their environment. The most interesting phenomenon is the aggregation of cells. The first PDE model for this phenomenon goes back to Keller and Segal in 1970.  There are two ways to model cell aggregation: (i)  “chemotaxis collapse”  which means solutions blows up in finite time to form delta-function singularity at several spots, or (ii) solutions converge, in infinitely long time,  to steady states that concentrate at several points. We prefer the second approach. We modify the chemotactic flux term in the well-known Keller-Segal model, so that solutions remain bounded in any spatial dimensions; we then carry out bifurcation analysis on steady states and study their stability; we also perform numerical simulations that reveal phenomena that cannot be handled analytically at this moment.
