摘要: Abstract: The classical Riemann-Roch theorem in dimension one gives a formula to calculate the dimension of spaces of functions on a curve with prescribed pole divisor. The proof has been simplified by Artin, F. K. Schmidt, and Chevalley to pure linear algebra. We give a further analysis of Chavalley’s proof which appeals to the fact that a field is given by the basic operations of join and intersection of lines in projective space.
